The Community Brands team is heading to ACLEA’s 55th Annual Meeting in Chicago July 27-30. This year’s theme is, “Winds of Change,” with programs designed to inform on the latest industry shifts and trends and give attendees the tools to make a difference in their organization. Here are some of the sessions I have circled on my agenda.

Session: Effective SMEs: How to Help Subject Matter Experts Facilitate Learning

While subject matter experts bring experience and immeasurable knowledge, they are not always the best experts in facilitation. Oftentimes being a subject matter expert does not mean being an exceptional presenter. The responsibility then falls on the learning professional to play to the speaker’s strengths and set them up for success whether in the classroom or online. In this session the speakers will explore ways to enhance learning events to help your SMEs shine.

Session: It’s Best When Lawyers Can Self-Assess

More and more organizations are considering taking their education delivery to the next level by incorporating ways for learners to assess their competency. Content consumption alone is no longer an adequate measure of knowledge retention, and many associations are starting to gauge topic comprehension by adding quizzing or assessments into their courses. In this session, learn how to make your programming more engaging and effective by weaving assessments into your education offerings. A supporting system like Freestone LMS can make the process of creating and taking these assessments seamless for your staff and learners.

Session: Podcasting is a Teaching and Training Tool

I have spoken with numerous clients about how to effectively incorporate podcasts into their content delivery strategy, and some struggle with hitting the right note on the tone of the program. A course that’s “audio only does not make it a podcast. Podcasts need to deliver the conversational vibe that users have come to expect, based on their experience with content outside the continuing education space. In this session, youll hear techniques on creating interactive podcasts that are easily trackable, so you can measure your members engagement with this education method.

Session: Building a Learning Ecosystem – Going Beyond the CLE Program and Developing a Learning Culture

As we have discussed, learners today are multimodal and are consuming learning using a variety of different methods (five on average). Across the generations, members want accessible content in multiple formats, so they can pick the offering that best meets their needs at a particular point in time. Delivering this content can seem like a tall order for organizations with limited resources. In this session, speakers will discuss the benefits of offering multiple education resources and giving learners the choice to select what works best for them.

Make sure to come by the Community Brands booth and say hit to the team! We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
