Lately, we have been driving home the idea that offering a comprehensive learning program, complete with a variety of mediums, is key to engaging today’s multimodal learners. As we have mentioned, part of that content delivery strategy should absolutely include live online events to meet the needs of all member preferences. The good news is that many of you seem to agree with this approach.
In Tagoras’s recently launched Virtual Events Report 2018, sponsored by Community Brands, we learned that 81.6 percent of survey respondents stated that the primary reason they have held a virtual event is to expand their reach to learners who would otherwise not attend place-based events. Across generations members are craving variety and accessibility in learning formats, so it is encouraging to see organizations recognizing this fact and working to reach more members with their offerings.
The second and third reasons for hosting virtual events are to be perceived as embracing cutting-edge approaches and supporting an overall strategy to deliver more services online. These responses are also completely aligned with what we have heard from members.
According to our Digital Member Study, members who believe their professional membership organization is an early technology adopter are generally more satisfied and feel more connected to their organization. As consumption habits, behaviors and attitudes continue to evolve, it is important to audit your education program and examine new techniques and additional online learning formats that may be beneficial to embrace and incorporate.
